An island with a working surface is a functional and elegant solution. Especially if you love to cook but don’t want to be facing the wall all the time. However, if you decide to indulge in this luxury, be prepared for the installation of an island hood. They are not cheap. A decent hood will cost you around 1.5-2 thousand rubles. But there is another solution: a regular built-in hood in a decorative box. Let’s compare these two designs. Typically, buyers of island hoods have to choose between power and aesthetic characteristics. In a box, you can install a hood of any power, and the box itself can be designed in any way, for example, using the same material as the kitchen. Maintaining the box is easier: unlike metal, it doesn’t leave fingerprints on the surface and doesn’t need to be wiped down every day. An island hood needs to be securely attached to the ceiling. If you have high ceilings or if the structure of your ceiling doesn’t allow for the use of anchor bolts, then this option is not for you. The box can be attached to the ceiling or suspended on cables, creating a futuristic floating structure. Additionally, shelves can be added inside the box. And the final argument – the price. The entire construction, including the box and the equipment, will be 2.5 times cheaper.
